WebHostingPad Review: Reasonable Service For A Ridiculous Price

There are literally thousands of web hosting service providers out there, and WebHostingPad is just one of them. As with the other hosts, I have an account with them too. I’ll talk about its features, my uptime statistics, ease of use (or lack thereof), customer service, and a few other important aspects of the service. That’s a lot to get through, so let’s get started!

WebHostingPad Review: Reasonable Service For A Ridiculous Price

Basic Features

WebHostingPad offers “unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, and a 99.9% uptime guarantee.” This is a lot to offer, so it’s important to clear what these claims actually mean before signing up. “Unlimited” is not an absolute, literal term here. Actually what WebHostingPad means is that your allowances will be automatically adjusted in accordance with your site’s growth as long as your resource usage is not many times what an average customer uses, or as long as you don’t jeopardize their infrastructure, slowing down other sites. This allows you to enjoy practically unlimited service, and the “unlimited” bandwidth translates to extremely consistent service – at least in theory.

Initial Problems

I find that the “unlimited disk space” promise holds. The site I host with them is quite large in my terms, over 1 GigaByte, with numerous databases, quite a few media files. I haven’t had any issues with WebHostingPad over this, fortunately. What also didn’t happen was the 99.9% uptime, however, which was a bit annoying. Uptime was spotty on occasion, even though even though I made sure everything was perfect on my end (files, databases, DNS settings and such). This issue faded a few weeks after the website launch, so it wasn’t permanent. To be fair, issues were managed rather well.

This is my measurement of uptime, checking every minute if my site is online. The 30 Day Chart shows 99.59% Uptime which is below the guaranteed 99.9%!

Over the last 24 hours there haven’t been any downtime. That means a 100% Uptime! Yey!

Customer Service Is There!

Even though my time with WebHostingPad isn’t entirely trouble-free, their attention to customer service made it much easier to deal with. They help through Live Chat within a couple minutes. They guided me through all the problems I did have with WebHostingPad, so it’s definitely a feature worth using. I have to give WebHostingPad a good 10/10 for this one, since service was so prompt.

In general, using your WebHostingPad account is pretty easy, as well. I had no problems actually launching or managing my website but that’s without saying when we talk about cPanel.

Conclusion

WebHostingPad delivered a mixed experience, but in the end it turned out more of a positive one than negative. The most notable aspects of the service were the following.

  • Reliability: WebHostingPad wasn’t as reliable as some other services I’ve used. The uptime wasn’t truly consistent to the degree promised for the first several weeks, which definitely is a blow to the service’s rating.
  • Customer Service: On the other side of the coin, the customer service was excellent. I got every problem solved pretty quickly.
  • User Friendly: cPanel takes the guessing out of the picture.

All that said, WebHostingPad’s selling point is it’s price. For that money they provide a reasonable service!
