Inmotion Hosting Review: Cheap And Unlimited Everything
Choosing where and with whom to host your website is a major decision, and one that smart and savvy business owners cannot take lightly. I know that there are a whole host of people out there that jump on the cheapest offering with very little thought at all, but if you come to the same realization as I did when I was one of those dollar chasers you start to see things in a whole new light.

You see, a friend of mine took me aside one day and told me that, while he clearly understood the importance of getting online and having a website, he didn’t really understand what the tools were. And while we argued a bit back and forth, I really showed him how to make his web presence more professional. He always thought of his site as an online salesman, but when I explained to him that his website was often the first and only contact that an overwhelming majority of his prospects and customers see, he knew that it needed to be the best.
And that’s why I sent him to InMotion Hosting at the time.
When you’re talking about a high tech solution that must be online nonstop, you need to know that whenever you pick up the phone or shot them an email that InMotion Hosting is going to get back to you with answers – and get back to you with those answers right away.
How Often Will You Contact Support? – Uptime
You will need the most urgent help when your site is unreachable. I have a site hosted by Inmotion and I have been monitoring it for the last 30 days to see how often it goes down. The site is checked every minute. The red dots mean that when checked the site was at least once unreachable or timed out in 10 seconds.
30 Days Uptime
The first one is for the 30 days. As you can see it’s a mixed image. We see a couple downtimes here and there but overall it’s good. Stats say it had a 99.97% uptime. That’s actually the best one so far that I have seen on the sites I’m monitoring!
7 Days Uptime
For the 7 days period there were two occasions when the site was unreachable, both times it happened only from the US data center and it was fine from Germany. My statistics program says it had 100% uptime, I guess it was pretty close and was rounded up.
24 Hours Uptime
100% Uptime for the 24 hour period as well. I’m quite impressed with this right now!
What You Get?
It should come as no surprise to anyone that has bought web hosting of what the features of the majority of their plans are – you get unlimited everything, all kinds of freebie domains and add-ons, email accounts for your domains – you know, the usual suspects when you buy hosting with cPanel.
While all of that stuff was important to me, it’s pretty par for the course right now, and I had something much more important on my mind – something that is sadly nowhere near as common as it should be in the online world. I was looking for high end customer service that would not only treat me like a real customer with serious needs, but also as a real person. Too often hosting companies abandon ship when you’ve been locked into a payment plan with them, but I’ve never had a problem like that working with InMotion Hosting.
Every single time – and I mean every single time – that I contacted them a question I made up they were beyond responsive and always went out of their way to help me get the assistance I needed. This is a huge difference between many of the so called “top web hosting companies”, and a reason that I highly recommend InMotion Hosting.
Criticism
If there is a knock against InMotion Hosting, it would have to be that there are too many tiers of service – but that’s really the only downside of working with them, and having a lot of options is not always a deal breaker
The only thing I wasn’t crazy about with InMotion Hosting is the simple fact that there are almost too many options. You can get a shared hosting plan with a couple of tiers of service, then a VPS hosting plan with a couple of tiers of service, and then finally a dedicated hosting plan with tiers of service. While this might be the kind of flexibility that you’re looking for from a web host, it just made the decision on which plan to pick that much harder. But like most problems or hiccups I have with InMotion Hosting, all I did was contact customer service BEFORE I bought the plan and they walked me through all of my options – and didn’t lead my straight to the most expensive solution on the market. Talk about an integrity move.
Breakdown of the Pros and Cons
All in all, here’s a quick breakdown of the things I loved about InMotion Hosting, and the things I loved a little less
My experience with InMotion Hosting has been absolutely first rate and glowing, with very small hiccups. Here’s a quick breakdown of my thoughts.

- Cheap monthly rate
Cons
- Too many different packages to choose from
- Online chat button for sales help, but not for technical support
