HostGator Review: The Obvious Choice For Uptime Junkies

If you spend some time in Google looking for the absolute best web hosting solution on the market today, you’re going to find that Hostgator keeps popping up time and time again – I know that it was definitely happening to me.

But this is probably a good sign that just proves exactly how powerful and popular Hostgator is across the industry, especially one that is so cluttered like the web hosting world is today. More and more people continue to jump into the hosting industry on a regular basis, promising the moon and the stars when it comes to technological capabilities, software platforms, and all kinds of other extra features – but not many of them have the incredible reputation that Hostgator has been able to create and carve out for themselves.

I didn’t know it when I first signed up, but am now well aware of the fact that Hostgator continues to be one of the true titans of the web hosting world, and one of the handful of hosting solution out there that I would recommend with a full and complete endorsement.

Again, just like with every other host I review, I took the time and set up an uptime monitor to check my site with HostGator every minute. As always, you are going to see three charts for three different time frames. Red dots mean downtime.

The first one is for thirty days. It’s a 99.96% uptime. It’s well above the guarenteed 99.9%.

And here is the last 24 hours. I have to note that this kind of stable service is not typical at all times. It just happened to be this good at the time I decided to write a Hostgator review.

Three entirely different levels of web hosting

While many other less than reputable web hosts are all too happy to provide you with a shared hosting plan and nothing more (most often because they are reselling someone else’s service and adding a bit of markup to the top), Hostgator not only maintains all of their own servers but they also offer three unique levels of hosting for anyone looking to get started.

The initial level is the one that most people are going to want to jump on first, shared hosting that is pretty much standard across the industry. Offering unlimited everything (disk space, bandwidth, domain names hosted on a single server, and email, just to name a few) and a range of other amazing offerings. This is the way to go if you’re just getting started on the web.

But if you need a little bit more power and a lot more juice you’re going to want to look at the two higher tiers that they offer – the VPS hosting solution and the dedicated server solution. Both of them offer amazing advantages in speed, control, flexibility, and reliability, and I can tell you right now that each of them is a fantastic and truly world class that you don’t find easily anywhere else.

If you need complete and total control over your hosting environment – using it like a server that you own and operate all on your own – these are the only options that you should consider using, simply because Hostgator puts no limits on your flexibility whatsoever. You literally have the server as your playground, able to do anything and everything you need.

You just can’t beat the price

While there are certainly cheaper hosting options out there – some of them seemingly cutting their own throat to try and grab as many customers as they can to make it up on volume – the fact of the matter is that at $3.96 a month this is the steal of the century for shared hosting.

Obviously, VPS hosting becomes significantly more expensive and dedicated hosting even more so (both services starting monthly at $9.97 for the VPS solutions and dedicated servers starting at $139), but you absolutely get every penny worth when you use Hostgator. There is a reason that over 9 million domains are hosted by this specific provider, just another testament to the greatness that Hostgator brings to the table on a daily basis.
